Toyota TRD Pro Series

Tacoma, Tundra, & 4Runner TRD Pro Series

Toyota introduced a new performance package, the "TRD Pro Series", for its 2015 Tundra, Tacoma, and 4Runner models. While engine performance remains relatively unchanged, save for a few extra horsepower thanks to the TRD exhaust system, off-road capability is taken to new levels for each model. In addition to some serious suspension modifications, the TRD Pro Series package revamps the interior and exterior aesthetics of the vehicle. All three models receive a revamped TRD Pro Series branded interior, protective skid plates, and a unique black grille with "Toyota" spelled out in iconic, FJ-40 inspired lettering. The package is available in three colors - attitude black metallic, super white, and inferno (which is exclusive to the TRD Pro Series package and not available on any other models). Best of all, the upgrade will not void Toyota's 36,000 mile, 3 year factory warranty.

Tundra TRD Pro

The Tundra TRD Pro comes standard with Toyota's 381 horsepower, 401 lb-ft 5.7L V-8 backed by its 6 speed automatic transmission. The throaty V-8 exhales through a special Toyota Racing Development dual exhaust system. Transmitting power to the ground is a set of Michelin LTX 275/65-R18 tires (~32 inches), which neatly wrap 18 inch black alloy wheels. Bilstein external reservoir, position sensing shocks dampen the ride through a TRD tuned softer suspension. Overall, the Tundra rides 2 inches higher in the front (with 2 inches of extra wheel travel) and 1-1/4 inches of extra wheel travel in the rear, putting total wheel travel at 10.5 inches in the front and 9.5 inches in the rear. Front skid plates help protect the undercarriage from dangerous obstacles and add to the overall Baja inspired appearance. Finally, each TRD Pro Series Tundra receives 'TRD PRO' stamped into the side of the bed - no graphics here.

A throaty, stainless steel cat-back exhaust system spices things up, though there's no significant increase in performance. 16 inch black and silver bead lock style wheels (not true bead locks, which wouldn't be street legal) wrapped in 30.5 inch tall BF Goodrich All Terrain tires help the Tacoma TRD Pro navigate rough terrain while 2.5" front and 2.0" rear Bilstein remote reservoir shock absorbers dampen the ride. The mid-size pickup sits roughly 1.75 inches higher in the front and receives an extra inch of wheel travel in the rear and 1.5" up front. Eibach leaf springs featuring a softer spring rate round up the suspension package. The 4Runner is the only available model which does not receive an exhaust upgrade, unfortunately. However, the 4Runner receives arguably the most aggressive tires out of the three TRD Pro models - 31.5" Nitto Terra Grapplers wrapping 17" black aluminum alloy wheels. 1.5 inches taller in the front end, the 4Runner retains all the creature comforts that you'd expect from Toyota's SUV.
