The T-19 is a heavy duty truck transmission used by Ford and International. A common application is the 1983 to 1987 Ford 6.9L IDI diesel, but this version of the transmission had a less favorable 4.02 : 1 first gear. 2WD Ford's with the 460 cid big block also received this version, while 4WD Ford's with the big block got a more desirable 6.32 : 1 version from 1983 to 1986. The T-19 is a step above the T-18, which was used more commonly. Some 1975 to 1980 International Harvester trucks used the T-19, but this version is far from practical for swaps. The T-19, in any instance, is not seen as an economic solution for Jeeps due to the high costs of mating the transmission in such applications. A 5.10 : 1 first gear ratio variation also surfaced in Ford trucks, but only for two model years. All versions are fully synchronized and use helical cut gears.
