New Process & New Venture Gear Transfer Case Guide & Identification

The roots of New Process Gear can be traced back to the late 1800's, but the acquisition of the company by the Chrysler Corporation in the mid 1950's is imperative to its impressive portfolio. New Process Gear manufactured a number of popular manual transmissions and transfer cases that have been used by various automakers in the U.S. In 1990, Chrysler and General Motors joined forces by combining GM's Muncie division and Chrysler's New Process Gear; the result was New Venture Gear. Chrysler later acquired GM's stake in the company in 2002 and a Canadian corporation, Magna International, purchased it in 2007. In August of 2012, after 124 years of production, New Process Gear closed the doors for good at its New York assembly plant. The New Process, New Venture legacy produced some of the most reliable, popular drivetrain components ever made.
