Ford 3.5L Ti-VCT V-6

Ford F-150 3.5L V-6 Engine Specs

The 3.5L Ti-VCT V-6 was added to the F-150 engine lineup for the 2015 model year, replacing the previous 3.7L V-6. It shares the same bore and stroke combination as the popular 3.5L EcoBoost, however this does not suggest that engines have similar characteristics in any category other than the basic structure.

The 3.5L V-6 has been used in various Ford and Lincoln applications since the 2007 model year and appeared on Ward's "10 Best Engines" following its introduction. The engine is slightly smaller and consequently slightly less powerful than the 3.7L V-6 it replaced. At 282 horsepower and 253 lb-ft of torque, the 3.5L produces 7 percent less horsepower and 9 percent less torque than the 3.7L V-6. However, the 3.5L V-6 features a 5% greater fuel economy rating than the outgoing 3.7L, which likely influenced Ford's decision to bring it to the aluminum bodied F-150 platform, which was also introduced for the 2015 model year. The 3.5L was retired in the F-150 following the 2017 model year in favor of a smaller 3.3L V-6 based on the same basic engine structure.
