The NASCAR edition F-150s were all painted black and featured NASCAR graphics/accents on the body. The interiors were gray with NASCAR embroidered accents on the seats and floor mats. For powertrain, only the 4.6L V-8 engine and a 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic transmission were offered. It is rumored that the 5.4L V-8 engine was in high demand at the time and was therefore not used, as Ford did not want to interrupt production of their standard pickups. Though the engine featured a unique FOU1 PCM code, engine output was equal to that of the standard 1998 4.6L V-8. A stainless steel dual exit exhaust system with Roush tips gave the truck additional style. Many dealers installed polished wheels on these trucks to attract potential buyers, but all NASCAR edition F-150s left the assembly plant with 10 spoke, black aluminum wheels.
The NASCAR edition F-150 was only available in 1998, though a NASCAR accent package was available for additional model years (such as 1999). The accent package was a dealer installed add-on, and a truck with this option is NOT a NASCAR edition F-150. Additional unique styling features include a 1" lower ride height, Roush air dam in the front of the truck, and Goodyear P255/70R16 Wrangler AP tires with yellow lettering.
